Community Education

Jenison Public Schools has been an anchor in the Jenison community for over 70 years. Our goal is to continue providing our community with access to outstanding academics, athletics, special programming, extracurricular opportunities, camps and activities, and more. The Community Education team at JPS is committed to enriching the lives of our students, families, and community as a whole, because strong communities create strong schools—and strong schools create strong communities.

Jenison Youth Programming Opportunities

Fall 2024

Jenison Programs 
1st-6th Grade Cheer Toss & Tumble Camp cheerleader
This camp will work with girls on only gymnastics and stunting. We will work on basics, advanced skills and progressions, within the girls skill levels. This is for all levels 1st-6th grade. Camp will take place the second week of August. Registration will open June 2024.

1st & 2nd Grade Cheer Mini Camp cheerleader
This is for 1st and 2nd graders and is a mini version of our older girls season. Participants will learn basics on all areas of cheer. Chants, jumps, stunting and gymnastics. The girls will also receive a shirt to cheer, two practices and one game. Registration will open June 2024.

3rd-6th Grade Cub Cheer Sideline Season cheerleader
Cub Cheer Season will run the third week of August though the end of October. Additional cost of a uniform, if they do not have one already. A link will go out in July for a team store to purchase the uniforms(more on this later) They do also receive a team shirt. Teams will be picked by school/grades. The season will provide training on all areas of the cheer world. Getting them ready for Jr High and High School teams. We will help advance participants' levels of education in cheer, whether they are brand new or have experience. This is for only 3rd-6th Graders. Registration will open June 2024.

JYB Basketball Skills Development basketball
K-2nd grade boys and girls will have an opportunity to learn basketball skills from JYB coaches. Each session will be an hour long and be held at the students home elementary school from 4 - 5 pm on Tuesdays and Thursday. Skill development will take place at your students home elementary school. There will be a maximum of 20 students per session at each elementary school. Registration will open the first week of August 2024.
 
456er's Volleyball Volleyball
Students grade 4th-6th will have the opportunity to be introduced to the sport of volleyball and build necessary skills to be successful in the sport of volleyball. In addition to practicing volleyball skills, participants will have the opportunity to put their skills to work in real game experiences. Registration will open in August 2024.

Opportunities for students grade 1st & 2nd to participate in flag football. Students Grades 3rd-6th have the opportunity to participate in tackle football and be taught the correct skills to safely play the game of football.

Winter 2023-2024

Jenison Programs 
Youth Wrestlingwrestling
Students of grades K-6th have an opportunity to enhance their skills on the wrestling mat through practice sessions led by Jenison Youth wrestling coaches. Practice sessions will be broken up based on skill level and weight class. All Practice Sessions will be hosted in the High School Wrestling room, located by the Pals Gym.

3rd-5th Grade Baseball Clinicbaseball
Opportunities for 3rd through 5th grade students interested in enhancing their skill in the fundamentals of baseball. These include hitting sessions, fielding / defensive alignment, pitching & catching fundamentals, and base running skills. This clinic will include 2 sessions of skill development based on current grade level. The clinic will be held in the Wildcat Fieldhouse. (3rd - 5th Grade: 1/21/24,  1/28/24,  2/4/24) - 5pm to 7 pm at the Wildcat Fieldhouse. Participants will receive a Jenison baseball hat with registration. Click here to register!

5th & 6th Grade Competitive Cheercheerleader
The 5th/6th competitive cheer program is designed to give the girls an opportunity to learn what competitive cheer is all about! Participants will receive a team shirt, team bow, 9 practices, 1 cheer clinic, and the opportunity to perform at 2 home cheer competitions. Participants will learn the basics of stunting, gymnastics, jumps, and motions. Registration for 2023 has ended.

Jenison Youth Basketball - JYBbasketball
Jenison Youth Basketball is open to boys 3rd-6th grade and girls 5-6th grade (check out our signup for 3/4th grade girls JYB league). We are a community basketball league. Come play basketball and compete for your home elementary school vs other Jenison Elementary’s. JYB will start practicing mid to late October. Season will end prior to Christmas break. Games will be on Saturdays in November and December. Registration for 2023-2024 has ended. Registration for 2024-2025 will begin in August 2024.
 
Jenison Youth Basketball - 3rd/4th Gradebasketball
Girls JYB Varsity basketball players led by varsity coaches will teach the game of basketball in a fun and competitive way to 3rd and 4th grade athletes. Practices will be on Wednesday Jan. 3, Monday Jan. 8, 15, 22, all from 7-8:30pm and games will be played on Saturday mornings, Jan. 13, 20, 27, 8-10am. Participants will receive a t-shirt with registration.

Club Programs
Jenison JAWS Swimming swimmer
Jenison Age Group Swimming/JAWS Green Group Practices are 1-3 times a week for 45-60 minutes. Practice times are between 6pm and 8pm. Practices can be on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday. Meets are on Saturdays in January (Jan 13, 20, 27) with a championship meet in February (either Feb 16 or 17). See more information here.

Winter Springboard Diving (Grades 3 & up) swimmer
Classes are designed for boys and girls going into grades 3 & up this fall who feel comfortable in the water. Each session is 55 minutes long and there are five classes in each session. Class size is limited so register early if the dates and times work for you. We will only have beginner/intermediate classes this winter. For more information, see our flier.

Jenison Wild Club BasketballBasketball
Students in grades 3rd-6th have the opportunity to participate in a competitive basketball league against other school and travel teams at the Courthouse Athletic Center in Byron Center, MI. Some teams will also participate in weekend basketball tournaments. Our program stresses the progressive development of each and every participant through knowledge, skills, fun, and sportsmanship with a competitive spirit. Evaluations will take place to ensure students are ready for this next level of competition. 

Spring 2024

Jenison Programs 

Three Day Tennis Camp tennis racquet

Learn and develop tennis skills while having fun. Each session will include 3 lessons (1 week). Participants must provide their own racquet. Each lesson will be one hour in length and instructions will be in small groups. March 18th, 19th, 20th 2024 - 4 pm to 5 pm at the Jenison Tennis Courts.

Jenison Youth Lacrosselacrosse player
Whether you are looking to register for boys or girls lacrosse, you must first create a profile and the site will direct you to the available program for your child. Practices will be starting after the New Year and practice times during the spring are scheduled by the coaches.  Games will start in the middle of April 2024. 5th-8th Boys will be playing on Mondays and Wednesdays. 3rd-4th Boys play two games on Saturdays between 11 - 2.
